The majority of people using the services of Future Home Care also require somewhere to live or to move from their existing accommodation. whilst Future Home care is not a housing provider, however we are able to use our substantial experience to develop strong relationships with many organisations to support the individual to find accommodation which is affordable. These organisations include:
- Letting Agencies
- Estate Agents
- Registered Social Landlords
- Private Landlords
- Charities
- Housing Associations
- Housing Brokers (e.g. Mencap Housing Pathways)
Our Supporting People funded tenancy team works alongside our support workers to provide specific support with individuals to identify appropriate accommodation and then support the individual with th complexities of setting up and maintaining a tenancy, Our tenancy support team receive specific training to ensure they are equipped to provide this very specific support.
This support is time limited, depending on needs and includes:
- Completing Housing Application forms
- Completing a full Benefits review
- Completing and submitting Housing Benefit and other relevant benefit applications
- Completing Community Care Grant applications for essential furnishings
- Support with the move process (removal, key cutting, purchasing furniture)
- Registering with utility companies (gas, electricity, water, telephone)
- Setting up of Standing Orders or other budgetary systems to ensure bills are paid
Once settled in to the property, the Tenancy Support team focuses on any vocational or educational support needs the person may have. Many people who use our service wish to achieve qualifications and/or work in order to achieve greater independence. Our Tenancy Support Service can support the individual to achieve these aspirations by:
- Supporting the individual to identify educational experiences to suit the person's needs. This may include education providers delivering tailored courses to individuals in our own Training Rooms
- Supporting the individual to apply for such courses and support in attending appointments and/or interviews in relation to such courses
- Supporting the individual to regularly review progress by meeting with course tutors on a regular basis
- Supporting the individual to identify appropriate work opportunities
- Supporting the individual to apply for placements on work schemes and/or job vacancies
- Supporting the individual to compile C.V's
- Supporting the individual to practice interview techniques by undergoing mock interview scenarios
- Supporting the individual to settle into a new job and/or placement by visiting the employer and reviewing progress
